WORK BEGINS ON FAVERSHAM’S MUCH LOVED SWIMMING POOL FOLLOWING £60,000 FUNDING BOOST
Building work is underway to improve facilities for children, families, older swimmers, and swimmers with disabilities at Faversham’s much loved swimming pools, Faversham Pools.
The project will fund various ways for the Pools to become more accessible to all swimmers, including those with disabilities and elder swimmers. This month, the first stage beings and works to re-surface the ground around the outdoor pool area has begun at the site on Leslie Smith Drive, Faversham.
The project, which is being funded by a £60,730 grant from FCC Communities Foundation will provide a new resin surface around the outdoor pool, a refurbished first aid room, an accessible toilet and two new digital display screens for the reception area which will display key pool information.
The new resin surface around the outdoor pools will provide much better grip and durability. It will reduce the likelihood of slips and provide a softer surface for children and older swimmers.
Jon Lazenby, General Manager of the Pools is excited that the project is starting to take shape and says:
“It’s great to see our vision for this vital community facility moving closer to becoming a reality. We are extremely grateful to the FCC Communities Foundation for the funding, and we are looking forward to welcoming our community to the new, improved space once the work is complete.”
FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community project through the Landfill Communities Fund.
Richard Smith, FCC Communities Foundation Senior Grant Manager, says:
“It’s always nice to see something we have funded start to take shape. We’re delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile project and look forward to it benefitting swimmer across Faversham.”
The multi-pool complex in the heart of Faversham’s town centre and is open to swimmers of all abilities, year-round. The Pools will remain open while the work takes place and information on opening times and prices can be found on the website www.favershampools.com
It’s no mystery why dogs are known as man’s best friend. If you’ve had a stressful day they’ll greet you at the door with a wagging tail. If you’re watching a film and need a snuggle buddy, they’re there for you. If you’re off on an adventure, they’re always happy to join you.
In Faversham, we are extremely lucky to have a fabulous selection of shops and businesses that will welcome your four-legged friend with open arms/paws. Whether you’re stopping for a bite to eat, or popping into the shops, there are plenty of places you can visit with your dog.
To coincide with Faversham Town Council’s forthcoming Howl-O-Ween Parade taking place on the 29th October, we thought we’d celebrate our dog-friendly town by putting together a directory of businesses in Faversham where dogs are welcome.
Many thanks to Tell’s Pet Accessories who trades on Faversham Market and sells a wide range of food, snacks and treats for your pets for supporting our dog-friendly guide. Keep up-to-date with Tell’s news on his Facebook page here.
Also, a big shout out to Poppy and Swiss, for her support. She’s a local illustrator who specialises in creating beautiful portraits of your dog, these make for perfect, affordable gifts! Check out her website here.
If there is anyone we have missed off the directory, please email [email protected] and we’ll add them on.
